Federal advisory panel approves privacy and security recommendations

In a meeting held Friday, June 25, the HIT Policy Committee approved recommendations by the Privacy and Security Tiger Team that would establish health information exchange credentials and help to protect personal health information.

Health IT vendor CEO testifies on need for HIE

Huy Nguyen, MD, CEO of Cogon Systems testified before the House Committee on Veterans Affairs the week of June 21 on the need for HIE and interoperability in order to provide a comprehensive view of patients. Cal eConnect, the state-designated entity that will oversee the establishment of California's statewide HIE, has named Carladenise Armbrister Edwards as the CEO. Edwards was formerly Georgia's Health IT Coordinator under the Georgia Dept. of Community Health.
